KEYNOTE Therese Log Bergjord, CEO, Skretting

Therese Log Bergjord joined Skretting in 2017 as Chief Executive Office of Skretting, Chief Operating Officer of Nutreco Aqua Feed Division, and member of Nutreco Executive Committee. Therese started her career in ConocoPhillips where she had various leading roles within the Treasury/Commercial area. She changed to the Aquaculture industry in 2003 where she worked as Vice President Commercial for Pan Fish and Global Sales Director for Skretting, she has considerable expertise in the aquaculture industry. In 2009 she became Managing Director Norway for Compass Group, a world leading food and support services company. Her latest role in Compass was to head up Compass Group Nordic business. Therese studied Economics at the University of Stavanger.

José Antonio Camposano, Executive President, National Chamber of Aquaculture of Ecuador

Camposano is the Executive President of the National Chamber of Aquaculture of Ecuador, private institution acting on behalf of the Ecuadorian shrimp industry, the second most important exportable product of the non-oil supply of Ecuador registering more than $ 2.5 billion in exports and sustaining nearly 200,000 jobs. Camposano has been the link between the production sector, government and NGOs for almost seven years, aiming to promote a sustainable business model in which aquaculture generates growth and well-being for the local community in his country.
He was selected by IntraFish as one of the 100 most influential seafood executives in 2014 and member of the 40 Under 40 Ranking of top young seafood leaders in 2015.
He has been a speaker at various international forums, such as the World Bank, the FAO, the Business Association for Latin-American Studies in the US, Latin America and Asia.

Rodrigo Laniado, CEO, SONGA Sociedad Nacional de Galápagos

Rodrigo is President of Songa and President of Grupo Camaronero Champar, leading companies of Ecuador’s shrimp industry, and a Founding Member of the Sustainable Shrimp Partnership. He has a bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, specialized in Finances at Emory University in Atlanta, United States in 1983. He has dedicated most of his life to shrimp industry, in 1984 started to work in a family shrimp company, and since then he has been committed to produce high quality shrimp in a continued and sustainable manner.
In 1996, he was selected President of The National Chamber of Aquaculture from Ecuador and has been a member in the Board of Directors since The Chamber was found. In 1997, he was Founding President of CORPEI (Corporation for exports and investment promotion of Ecuador).

Jason Clay, senior vice president for markets and food, WWF

Jason Clay is senior vice president for markets and food. He is also executive director of the Markets Institute, which was created to identify and address global issues and trends in more timely, cost-effective ways. Over the course of his career he has worked on a family farm and in the US Department of Agriculture. He has taught at Harvard and Yale and spent 15 years with human rights NGOs working with indigenous people, refugees, and famine victims. In 1988, he invented Rainforest Marketing, created one of the first US fair-trade ecolabels, and set up a trading company within an NGO. He was responsible for co-creating Rainforest Crunch and more than 200 other products with sales of $100 million. From 1999 to 2003, he codirected a consortium with WWF, the World Bank, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and the National Aquaculture Centres of Asia/Pacific to identify the most significant environmental and social impacts of shrimp aquaculture and management practices that measurably reduced them. Since then he has co-convened multi-stakeholder roundtables of producers, investors, buyers, researchers, and NGOs to identify and reduce the impacts of salmon, soy, sugarcane, cotton, and beef. In the past, Clay has launched aquaculture, agriculture, and market transformation programs within the WWF Network. More recently, he has helped create corporate commitments around deforestation and brought attention to global issues such as illegality, degraded land, and long-term contracts as a way to use the market to change it. He is the author of 20 books and is National Geographic’s first-ever Food and Sustainability Fellow. He was awarded the 2012 James Beard Award for his work on global food sustainability. Clay studied at Harvard University and the London School of Economics before receiving a PhD in anthropology and international agriculture from Cornell University.

Ignacio J. Kleiman, Managing Partner and a founding member, Antarctica Advisors

Prior to forming Antarctica Advisors, Mr. Kleiman served as Chief Executive Officer of Glacier Securities, a New York-based financial advisory firm specializing in the Seafood Industry, a subsidiary of Islandsbanki hf (successor of Iceland’s Glitnir Bank).
Mr. Kleiman has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry. Having started his career at JP Morgan in 1991 in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group, Mr. Kleiman spent more than 10 years at Bankers Trust and subsequently, at Deutsche Bank in their Investment Banking and Private Equity areas. He then spent an additional 6 years at Rabobank International, as a Managing Director in its Mergers and Acquisitions Department in New York serving clients in the Food Industry, both in the U.S. and overseas. In early 2007, Mr. Kleiman played a leading role in establishing the New York office for Glitnir Bank, focusing on M&A and financing in the Seafood Industry.
In 2013, Mr. Kleiman and a team of investment banking professionals formed Antarctica Advisors, a firm focused on providing strategic and financial advisory services to corporate clients in the Food Industry.

Avrim Lazar is a globally recognized policy and communications coach who assists diverse groups in identifying and pursuing common interests. He guides the successful navigation of the government, civil society and business interface and helps make whole cloth of social, economic, and environmental interests.
His current projects are concentrated on energy, forestry and fish farming in Europe, North America and South America.

Gorjan Nikolik, Senior Industry Analyst, Food & Agribusiness Research & Advisory, Rabobank International

Since joining Rabobank International in 2005, Gorjan Nikolik (39) has been an industry analyst focusing on the global seafood sector including aquaculture, wild-catch, seafood trade and processing. In his primary role, he works as a senior sector expert to Rabobank departments such as Mergers and Acquisitions, Leveraged Finance, Venture Capital, Credit Risk Management and the Relationship Bankers. He is a regular speaker on global seafood and aquaculture conferences and has published research reports covering the seafood industry. He also has experience as a commodity analyst having covered the sugar industry. Gorjan holds a masters degree in Finance and Business Administration from the University of Maastricht and an MBA from Maastricht School of Management.
